Amazing Month of May
May wrapped up yesterday and it has been an amazing month. It began with my PADI Open Water training course through Bubbles or Not Georgia. We started at a pool then went on to dive in Florida at the gorgeous Blue Grotto and at Devil’s Den an amazing natural spring!
On May 5th, I helped Savannah River Academy and the Amateur Radio Club of Columbia County to launch two weather balloons with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). The kids had a blast launching their own payload which included a GoPro taking time lapse photos. Here are a few!
Later in the month I co-taught a course on the overlap between Astronaut training and Scuba with PADI instructor in training Alexia Gonzalez(@alexia_avy). We covered some awesome information from how the earliest spacesuits were based on modified scuba gear to how Astronauts use their scuba training to prepare for spacewalks. At the end we have the kids an opportunity to try on and play with the gear!
As May 2021 wrapped up I prepared for my next adventure. I’m moving on to the high seas with a Mars analog. The intent being to sail the Atlantic from Palm Beach to New York with our all female crew!
